  • Catclaw Corner, Trapped in Abilene (guest) wrote 11 years ago:
Smart move as this area is going thru heavy development with property along Catclaw and west down Southwest with Walmart which was once grazing area now everyone wants to build in this area. Traffic is horrible with no room for widening the roads. We wil have to see how long the boom last as Abilene grapples with water supplies. .

Built in January 1941 by The American National Red Cross as the office and residence of the Red Cross Field Director at Camp Barkley located southwest of Abilene. After WW-II and the deactivation of Camp Barkley, ARC National Headquarters transferred the building to the ownership of the local ARC Chapter. • Paramount Theatre, wretched_hyena wrote 16 years ago:
When I was eleven and twelve, I saw a number of movies here, when they first came out including Goldfinger, Mary Poppins, Shenandoah and Charade to name a few. I liked the clouds floating by and the twinkling stars. I liked sitting in the balcony. I understand they show old movies there now. I need to go see it again.
